“Their approach embraces several culinary trends, including the ‘locavore’ movement — they even host a weekly farmer’s market to help support their favorite suppliers — and the idea that good food need not be formal, complex or expensive. ”
HGEL has gone bi-coastal! In 2011, HGEL joined with James Beard Award 2011 finalist, Dan Richer of Arturo’s Osteria & Pizzeria to produce a ‘garden event’ to benefit the Montrose Park Historical Society and educate residents about the many benefits of growing their own food and supporting local small farms. It was clear right away that we were both passionate about our shared food philosophy and a partnership was inevitable! Last June, HGEL and Arturo’s held our first gardening class built around the installation of the restaurant’s own little garden!
We love how gardens always bring us new friends!
