Commercial Gardens • Client: Four Daughters Kitchen
Four Daughters Kitchen is a great neighborhood beach cafe in North Manhattan Beach that has a loyal local following including surfers whose surfboards you’ll often find leaning up against the side of the restaurant! HGEL put these cedar raised beds in during the summer of ’10. Though small, this mighty garden contributes to the kitchen but, more importantly, sends the community a great message about the benefits – the joys and positive health and environmental impact – an organic garden has on us all. Come see us!
“Good food tells a great story, and ours is no exception! Four Daughters Kitchen started as a (literal) hole in the wall. But, with any great restaurant, it’s not what you see, it’s how you see it! Owner Clint Clausen and Operating Partner Chris Domanico saw the space as a great opportunity to deliver the North Manhattan Beach area something it had been missing: a beach eatery with fresh, healthy food, a stocked bar, organic coffee and a friendly atmosphere . . . all at an affordable price.”
“They named the restaurant after Clint’s own life – he is a father of four smiley little girls – and opened at 7AM the first morning to a crowd of friends and neighbors looking for a steaming cup of coffee, a warm plate of eggs and a friendly smile.”
“If we’re out of something in the kitchen, I’ll come out here and pick some basil or parsley,” said operating partner Chris Domanico, who waters the three 3- by 6-foot beds every morning. “The garden definitely has some curb appeal too.”
