Site Evaluation and Consultation • ($175)
No two projects are the same, no two clients are the same, no two sites are the same. Our detailed site evaluation and consultation includes:
• Client interview to assess client’s skill and knowledge base & client’s wish list.
• Assessment of all viable sites on the property for garden including measurements and photos.
• If planning an in-ground installation: soil examination, soil type identification and drainage capacity.
Fifty percent of the consultation fee ($75) will be credited back to your purchase of a full landscaping project (excluding the Raised Bed Learning Package).
Raised Bed Learning Package • ($850)
4×4 redwood boxes at the HGEL demo garden at International Garden Ctr. in El Segundo
(Irrigation services and pest/disease control & fertilizer kit available separately))
• 4x4x18″ redwood raised bed
• Organic planting mix
• Choice of one of the following designs: Chef’s Fall/Winter Garden, Chef’s Summer Garden, Herb Garden
• Plants as per selected design (2 plant substitutes included)
• Installation of weed blocker fabric along bottom and sides of raised bed.
• One hour installation lesson covering soil management, correct transplanting technique, fertilizing and irrigation.
• Personalized garden journal
Single Growing Season – over 4 months • ($550)
(excludes cost of materials and installation labor beyond the first 2hr lesson)
Consultation and evaluation plus plot design and planting list.
“How to” garden journal complete with references on all subjects covered in the following lessons:
5 hours of gardening instruction including:
• 1 lesson on soil preparation and management.
• 1 (2hr) lesson on planning and installing garden and correct watering levels.
• 2 monthly “Check ups” lessons to cover any challenges garden is facing such as pest/disease identification and control, fertilizing, harvesting and storing, etc.
Year-long Growing Together Package • ($1,000)
(excludes cost of materials and installation labor beyond the first 2hr lesson of each season)
Consultation and evaluation plus plot design and shopping list.
“How to” garden journal complete with references on all subjects covered in the following lessons:
10 hours of gardening instruction including:
• 1 lesson on soil preparation and management.
• 2 (2hr) lessons on planning and installing garden and correct watering levels for both fall/winter and spring/garden gardens.
• 5 monthly “Check ups” lessons to cover any challenges garden is facing such as pest/disease identification and control, fertilizing, harvesting and storing, etc.
Hands-on lessons for the family and neighborhood • ($85 +)
($85 for private/family lesson + $15 materials fee when applicable. Ask about our group rates for you and your friends.)
There’s nothing like starting a garden to bring a family or a community together! If you’ve got an established edible garden and just need some lessons to hone your skills, we can tailor a lesson package that fits your budget and need.
Each one and a half hour lesson is held right in your own home.

Garden Planting Party & Workshop • (up to 10 guests – $500)
This is a spectacular way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or…just for fun! You and 10 guests will participate in a “planting party” in your garden including a lecture on “The Secrets of Success in the Garden” plus the priceless ‘hands on’ experience of planting the host’s own vegetable garden! Too far away? No worries, we can work out a package that brings us to you! (fees for materials and irrigation services are extra)
Includes:
Site Consultation & soil preparation
Garden design and planting list
Workshop with handout materials and instruction/guidance during “planting” portion of workshop
Optional: (pricing can be quoted and arranged when event is booked)
- Light garden-themed lunch with beverage of your choice

Host to provide seating and tables.
Price quoted for consultations/services include travel within a 25 mile radius of the South Bay area of LA County. Additional travel time will be added for destinations outside radius.
